Our Church History

Our History

New Covenant Church of God in Christ began as the Muenchweiler Gospel Service in Muenchweiler, Germany in 1986. Pastor Roland P. Joyner was selected to become Pastor in 1988. The church moved from Muenchweiler, Germany to Pirmasens, Germany, where the name was then changed to Pirmasens Community Church of God In Christ. Elder Joyner pastored until his departure from Germany in September 1992 and relocated to Colorado Springs. In September of 1992, Pastor Joyner relocated from Pirmasens, Germany to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he began bible studies in his home and in January of 1993 the church held its first official service in Manitou Springs, Colorado, where the churches first building was located. God blessed Pastor Joyner to purchase a property, at 301 East Platte Avenue, right in the heart of downtown Colorado Springs.

With a small congregation of believers, our founder, Pastor Joyner took on the challenging task of renovating a 100-year-old edifice with great success. The church structure is registered as a historical landmark in the State of Colorado. With over 7,500 square feet on two levels to include classrooms, conference room, kitchen, social hall, dining area, and a seating capacity of 250 in the main sanctuary, with an over area that is used for various functions.

Pastor Joyner and his staff, continue to work diligently toward building and improving Christian ministry and advancing the people of God to the next level of excellence. New Covenant Church of God In Christ is a God-inspired and Spirit-breathed ministry, giving hope to many that comes its way. A church that believes in people growing and evolving into all that God has for them to be in this life. New Covenant is one of Colorado’s most dynamic and progressive church families in the city.
