Servanthood
There are various meanings for the words: Servant and servanthood. For this post I am defining a servant as one who voluntarily dedicates his or herself to the service of the Lord, in different areas of ministry. I am also appealing to those who are confessing to have been called to service by Jesus Christ. Jesus made a statement to his disciples in Matthew 9:37 That: The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few. Laborers still remains lacking even till today. Don't get me wrong, yes there are far more born-again believers, but they are not all working. In the kingdom of God there is always work to be done; people who need ministering to, in all sorts of ways such as: preaching and teaching, providing food, healing of the mind, body and spirit of people all around the world.
Believers need to just pause for a moment and examine whether we are actually fulfilling the call to work, because in ministry is work that has to be done, by all who claim to be followers of Christ. Preach, yes, to teach yes, but we have also been called to be the light of the world and the salt of the earth: Matthew 5:13, Mattew 5:14 and to be witnesses. All of these mandates take sacrifices of our time energy and recourses. But most of all a life of example in our work ethics, character, and loving our savior enough to be a doer of whatever is needed to build and glorify him.
Jesus states that the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” I believe that is the attitude we should have when it comes to serving each other. No, our mission is not to give our lives as ransom, but it is to give assistance or aid to those God allows us to come into contact with. Whether it sounds deep or not, "we are saved to serve" in whatever capacity is needed.
It does not have to be limited to our titles, position, or social status.
